Have you ever accidentally touched something that was too hot and immediately pulled your hand away before you even had a chance to think about it? You can thank your nervous system for that! Every animals has one (with a few exceptions), and it is an incredibly important and complex part of the body that helps us live.
Usher Khan is a medical assistant and registered orthopedic technician. As he continues to pursue his education in medicine, Khan is passionate about completing volunteer work and working as a dedicated science tutor. Today he gives an overview of the nervous system.
The nervous system is essential to functioning in day to day life because it is responsible l for detecting our environment and how we respond to it. There are two main parts of the nervous system. The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system extends across the entire body and is made of interconnected bundles of nerves. These nerves send signals to the central nervous system so that your brain can figure out how to interpret the world around you. Your nervous system is responsible for reactions such as the classic fight or flight response.
